Hi, I'm a 17-year-old student who's a little bit of everything -- introverted, shy, and socially awkward. I'm not the best when it comes to holding small talk, so I do most of my ranting online, where no one can see my face. I like the Internet because it gives me a voice.
I like silence and observing others. I prefer animals and books to people. Furthermore, I'm a professional chocolate and pastry eater. To my dismay, these foods made me grow sideways, instead of upwards. This explains why I'm incredibly short for my age.
I fell in love with literature relatively recently. I've always liked reading books, but I think appreciating words, writing, and language is different from liking it. I enjoy analyzing all sorts of art. I detest it when someone tells me that I'm wrong, because can someone really analyze writing incorrectly? One reason why I don't like the education system is that there's always usually a right or wrong answer!
I eventually grew to hate reading works of literature. It bored me immensely and reading an article grew tiring (alas, this is one disadvantage of the Internet. We constantly want things quickly!). But then came these two amazing writers that changed the way I viewed literature. They were Vita Sackville-West and Emily Dickinson.
Anyhow, now I am happily married to literature. We have three children and we're currently living in a tiny cottage near a garden. Just kidding.
I hope that this doesn't come across as showing off, but I'm multilingual. Ever since I was 3, I left my home country and traveled the world with my family. I had to move countries every two to three years. This had its negatives, such as I was terrible at developing deep relationships, I grew quiet and introverted, I was bullied due to cultural and racial issues, and so on. But it also had its advantages. I got to learn many languages. I learned English, Korean, German, Hebrew, French, and Spanish. I used to speak German fluently. Unfortunately, I forgot 99% of it. As for Hebrew, I never got to learn it completely.
Today, I am learning French and Spanish. I am fluent in English and Korean, although I have much to polish.
I developed an interest in translating poems and other literary works around two years ago. I am mesmerized by the beauty of languages and how they transform as they are translated. Gah! I can go on and on about this, but I'll save you from the pain.
I wish to one day re-translate some children's books, as I think many of them are horribly done!
Woah, I just realized that I've written half a novel (just joking)! I'll stop here. I'm sure 10/10 people didn't even make it this far!
Ta-ta!
