There are so many dishes which I've been enjoying these past few months. I recently started to think of my health, meaning I tried to cut down on the chocolate and pizzas. I'm never the one to go all healthy on foods as I'm addicted to chips & all that other good stuff, but I realized that I've been becoming unhealthier & unhealthier these days. Moving around became exhausting, I became tired quickly, I didn't feel motivated to do anything, I had low self esteem, and I hated who I was. Looking at all the grease, sugar, salt, etc. that I was shoving down my throat seemed...no. That's why I decided to change my eating habits and make a few tweaks here and there. This doesn't mean that I went on a diet, starved myself, or did rigorous exercising. It just means that I cut down on certain foods & was careful of what I ate. Keep in mind that I'm one of those girls who just can't change her diet easily. I love food & can't stand eating raw foods all day or go on those weird detox diets or whatever. But I'm changing myself little by little. So here goes!
I can't just NOT eat pizza. Pizza is life & life is pizza. That's why I made my own pizza with bread (the healthier option), cheese (I put less than they do in shops), olives, green peppers, onions, and tomato sauce (I made the tomato sauce on my own. I didn't put in any salt or sugar so I used different, more healthier spices).
I know the picture didn't make this dish look appealing, but this is actually really good. It's a chicken breast salad. I put in some lettuce, cabbage, tomatoes, chicken breast pieces, onion, and olives. And though it's not shown in the picture, I now add carrots & red paprika. I don't use any sauces (ugh, even though I love ranch sauce) but my mom does make a heavenly olive-oil kiwi sauce. The acidity in the kiwi sauce combined with the smooth olive oil is really good. I really should ask her for the recipe.
Soba! I used to eat soba with dipping sauce, but nowadays I eat it with a heck load of vegetables. I prefer soba over the normal pastas and spaghettis & I'm sure it's healthier (depending on what kind of soba your supermarket sells) too. I eat this with kimchi, green squash, aubergine (eggplant), carrots, pears (only if you want something sweet), paprika, and eggs.
Fruits in general. I'm one of those people who just CAN'T eat fruit for lunch/dinner instead of a full meal. I wanted bread, pasta, pizza, and all that other stuff, not fruit! But I think that was mainly because I didn't know a lot of fruits. Look carefully; you might find a fruit that you will adore & want to eat all the time. One of my favorite fruits that I can't stop eating are: pears, bananas, pomegranates, and parchitas!
So that's all the food that I've been enjoying the past 3 months. The purpose of my food change is not for losing weight (even though I'm sure a bunch of people might say "eh, that's what they all say!"). I want to prepare myself for when I grow older. I don't like how unhealthy I & my habits are. It's time for some change! Also, if you're going grocery shopping, make sure to read the ingredient label carefully. I've been doing that lately & it has really made me feel better. Knowing what horrid & good things go into our mouths is key!
